Al Capone’s has been a market leader in product and concept innovations for the past 25 years.
Al Capone’s was founded in 1992 in the Netherlands where we started with 7 company stores and with a focus on delivery. From there the company expanded to having 40 franchise restaurants. In 2006 we sold these to Domino’s Pizza’s and changed our concept. From then on we placed our focus on central production of high quality products within several concepts. We have experience in working with chilled and frozen products in delivery, restaurants, retail, catering and food services.
We now prepare all our pizzas and spianatas in our quality production center in the beautiful city of Bologna in Italy. Our range of products is distributed through several concepts that we have specifically developed for each brand.
Al Capone’s products are praised for their authentic wood stone baked base and their unique recipes. We solely use high quality ingredients to guarantee a tasty and healthy product.
The secret of our Al Capone’s pizzas is that we respect the traditional procedures and recipes. After preparing the dough, we give it time to rest to develop its taste and texture. When the dough has rested for several hours it is ready to be made into balls. These balls are left to rise some more in our retarder prover cabinets and only then are they shaped into pizza bases. We are unique in applying this traditional process because it takes a lot of time, and time is money.
We do our best to be creative with our choice of sauces and flour. Besides the traditional tomato sauce, we use mascarpone, mascarpone truffle and pesto sauces. We prepare our bases with original wheat flour, but we also have a gluten free version and a spelt pizza base.
After the pizza base has been sauced it will be pre-baked in a wood stone oven. After baking our frozen pizza’s will be topped with beautiful high quality products in Italy, while our chilled bases will be topped in the country of distribution.
Our pizza bases are all topped by hand which guarantees not only a great taste but also a visually attractive end product.
Our pizza’s are available chilled or frozen. Our Ø29 cm chilled bases are freshly topped in the country of distribution, guaranteeing a fresh product. Besides making a wood stone baked base and doing most of the preparation by hand, we finish our pizza’s with high quality products such as truffle, prosciutto, 100 % mozzarella, etc. This is why we consider our pizza’s part of a luxury product range.
Our chilled pizza’s are packaged in an Al Capone’s box and have an 8 day shelf life. Our frozen line of pizzas is available in Ø29 cm and Ø39 cm (grande) with a shelf life of 12 months.
Our Grande pizzas are meant to be cut into 8 slices and are usually used in high traffic locations. For this size we have branded Al Capone’s pizza holders and table top presentations. Our Ø29 cm pizzas are usually distributed to campings, beach clubs, restaurants, retail, etc. For this specific size we can supply branded Al Capone’s pizza boxes.
We have created appealing packaging solutions to showcase our products in the best way possible. These packagings are produced in a sustainable way and meet all required standards.

The Spianata is a product innovation from Italy and is one of the fastest moving products within the product range of Al Capone’s. The spianata is a product which is difficult to compare with other already more known products. We do however see in our current client base that they tend to replace their paninis with the spianata. The Spianata is a sensation and it is the best product introduction from Al Capone’s yet!
The spianata base is similar in shape to a pizza with a diameter of 29 cm. The main difference with a pizza is in the composition of the ingredients and the method of preparing. The spianata base is sauced with olive oil and sea salt instead of tomato sauce. The spianata can then be topped according to preference with meat, fish or vegetarian products. The sauces we use on our spianata are truffle-mascarpone, pesto and sour cream. Our current best seller is our spianata with truffle-mascarpone, prosciutto ham, walnuts and parmesan cheese for a perfect combination.
The spianata is meant to be served warm, however only the base is heated. To guarantee the best taste of the toppings it is best when they stay at room temperature. A large advantage of this is that a spianata can be processed very quickly since it only needs about one minute of reheating.
The food industry is always changing and moving, which provides opportunities for new products. Al Capone’s introduced the spianta outside of Italy in 2014. The Spianata is a healthy, authentic, delicious, quick and trendy product which is accessible for a big public. With different topings the spianata can be a suitable meal for any moment of the day. It is a product that can be used for direct consumption at high traffic locations but can also be sold chilled in retail and foodservice. With an average weight of 375 grams it can be seen as a complete meal.
The big benefits of the spianata are:
With pesto sauce, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, arugula and parmesan cheese
With mascarpone- truffle sauce, Parma ham, arugula, walnuts and parmesan cheese
With pesto sauce, spinach, grilled zucchini, grilled bell pepper, spianata salami and parmesan cheese
For the preparation and the sale of the spianata generally only simple and fast actions are needed. This requires only a short training processes of the staff, and it guarantees a constant product quality.
We have developed packaging for the consumer market in which the spianata will be showcased clearly and to its full potential. The packaging is produced in a sustainable way and meets all required standards. For retail locations we seal the spinata in a foil which gives the product a shelf life of preparation date +7 days. When prepared on a location in food service or restaurant it has a shelf life of preparation date +4 days.

The heating of a spianata by consumers is a very simple process. It can be done in either an oven, a pan or a contact grill. It is also a product that only needs a very short heating time, in a maximum of 3 minutes the spianata will be ready for consumption.
For the sale of Al Capone’s product we have created several concepts suited to different types of locations. We have a diverse clientele and we are always working with our customers to find a fitting solution for each branch.
One of the concepts we have created is to have a sales point for our pizzas and spianatas styled in the Al Capone’s corporate identity. For smaller locations we have developed a table top presentation and heating solution on which our Ø 39 cm pizzas can be optimally presented, and which will keep them warmed and fresh for about an hour.
For medium sized locations we have developed a mobile or temporary sales point. These movable carts are designed to be plug-in and are directly ready for use. They are equipped with an oven, fridge, and several table top presentation units. We also often work together with our clients to create custom solutions.
All of our packaging materials for the Foodservice and Hospitality sector as well as in the Retail sector are matched to each other so that our brand image comes across clearly.
